The Indiana Chapter of the American String Teachers Association (INASTA) hosts an All Region Orchestra event on Saturday, November 7th, 2026. The event will take place at Taft Middle School in Winfield, IN.

Concert start time is late to allow basketball & volleyball athletes to be able to participate in games and concerts.
GHS Contest Preview Night
This is a different sort of concert night for our GHS Orchestras. We will be bringing in 2 to 3 guest clinicians this night as our orchestras approach their state assessments later in April. The contest preview night is the third of five required concerts for GHS Students.

There is no ticket cost for this event but donations are accepted in an effort to offset the cost of hiring our guest clinicians

This is our Winter Concert for our 5th and 6th Grade Orchestras. The concert will be in the Goshen Junior High School Auditorium.

IMEA Convention
The Indiana Music Education Association (IMEA) hosts its annual state convention and professional development conference in Fort Wayne, IN. This event also includes the INASTA All State Orchestra, state-wide award presentations, and honor ensemble performances.
This year our GHS Jazz Strings will be an honor ensemble on Saturday at 3pm in the Allen County Public Library Auditorium.
GHS Jazz Strings IMEA Send off performance with Sara Caswell
We plan to hold a send off concert for our Jazz String ensemble on Friday, January 15th. This concert will feature our guest Sara Caswell with the GHS Jazz String Ensemble. We may also feature our GJH Cadenza Jazz Strings for this evening performance.
This is planned to be a performance free and open to the public but with donations accepted to help offset costs.

Jazz Strings: Purdue Jazz Festival
The Indiana Chapter of the American String Teachers Association (INASTA) hosts an All Region Orchestra event on Sunday, November 8th, 2026. The event will take place at Taft Middle School in Winfield, IN.
ISSMA Solo & Ensemble Event @ Elkhart High School
Students registered for a solo (most students taking private lessons grades 6-12) and students registered for the event with their ensemble (most orchestra students grades 7-12) will perform in the ISSMA Solo & Ensemble event at Elkhart High School.
We start organizing the ensembles for this event in October. Solo & Ensemble registration takes place in November.
Specific times assigned and released by ISSMA in early January. Total time commitment for one event is about an hour sometime between 7:30 AM and 4:00 PM.
State String Recital
The State String Recital is a “send-off” performance for our State Bound Chamber Groups allowing our orchestra students and families have an opportunity to hear these pieces being performed one last time.
The State String Recital is free and open to the public.
ISSMA State Solo & Ensemble Event @ Northview Middle School (Indianapolis)
This is the State Level of the ISSMA Solo & Ensemble Event.
Students receiving a Gold Rating at the February 6th event at Elkhart High School are eligible for the prestigious State Solo & Ensemble event taking place in Indianapolis.
GHS Jazz Strings and GJH Cadenza perform in the ISSMA Jazz Assessments

We host this ISSMA event. Parent and student Volunteers needed.
GJH Orchestras perform in the ISSMA JME Organizational Assessments
The ISSMA Junior High/Middle School/Elementary School (JME) Event is our state assessments for the GIS Prelude (6th Grade) Orchestra, GJH Allegro, Vivace, and Cadenza Orchestras. Our ensembles will perform 3 pieces for three adjudicators providing scores and verbal commentary. This event is the third of four required concerts for our Orchestra Students Grades 6-8. This is also the only concert we cannot communicate a set date or time for performances before February. When we register for the event in January we are able to help avoid student conflicts by listing individual student conflicts. For this reason our GIS 6th Grade Orchestra often performs around 5pm and our GJH ensembles typically perform between 6:30 PM and 10:00 PM (yes…10 PM…yikes) on Friday night but the exact dates and times are set by ISSMA. There is no cost to attend this adjudicated event but audience members must be very quiet so the judges can do their job as effectively as possible.
The GCS Orchestras host this event at Goshen Junior High School. More than 20 schools and over 1200 student performers participate in the event. Hosting is great for us but many volunteers are needed to make the weekend successful.
GHS Orchestras perform in the ISSMA HS Organizational Assessments
The ISSMA High School Organizational Event is our state assessments for the GHS Crimson Concert, Philharmonic, and Camerata Chamber Orchestras. Our ensembles will perform 3 pieces for three adjudicators providing scores and verbal commentary. For the High School level event there is also a sight-reading aspect of the event taking place immediately after the stage performance.
This event is the fourth of five required concerts for our Orchestra Students Grades 9-12. This is also the only concert we cannot communicate a set date or time for performances before March. When we register for the event in February we are able to help avoid student conflicts by listing individual student conflicts. For this reason our orchestras typically perform between 6:00 PM and 10:00 PM on Friday night but the exact dates and times are set by ISSMA.
There is no cost to attend this adjudicated event held at Concord High School but audience members must be very quiet so the judges can do their job as effectively as possible.
GHS Symphonic Full Orchestra performs in the ISSMA State Qualification Event

Our Symphonic Orchestra will join with our Symphonic Winds to perform 3 pieces for three adjudicators providing scores and verbal commentary. There is also a sight-reading aspect of the event taking place immediately after the stage performance.

Concert start time is late to allow track and tennis athletes to be able to participate in meets and concerts.
ISSMA State Finals Event
The 8 Full Orchestras with the highest scores from the four 4/30-5/1 State Qualification sites qualify for the State Finals event taking place at Pike High School. If Goshen qualifies for the event there will be a draw for performance order on the afternoon of Sunday May 2nd.
GHS Spring Orchestra Concert
This is our Spring Concert for students in the GHS Orchestras. This is the fifth of five required concerts for GHS Students. The concert will feature student awards and recognition of our Senior Musicians.

Student arrival time to GHS: 6:15 PM.
General Admission Tickets: $4.00 (seats will be reserved for the families of senior students)
Music in the Parks
As a way to celebrate the end of our performance year our GJH Allegro and Vivace Orchestras perform in the Music in the Parks festival alternating between Cedar Point and Six Flags Great America. May 15, 2027 we will be traveling by charter bus to Six Flags Great America.
As this is not a “big-trip” year for GHS, we will plan on having a GHS performing orchestra at Six Flags as well!
GHS Camerata Chamber Orchestra Recital
Eligible GHS Orchestra students may audition for placement in the Camerata Chamber Orchestra.
GJH Cadenza Orchestra: First Rehearsal
We’ll kick off our 26-27 Cadenza Rehearsal this day. The ensemble is open to any GJH Orchestra student that can regularly attend the Friday after-school rehearsals. We will work with the athletic director to navigate conflicts with athletic practices and games in hopes of students being able to participate in both activities.
We anticipate having a lot of cellists in this group this year, so we need a lot of violins, violas, and basses to help balance them out. Come have a bit more of a laid back orchestra experience, with jazz, ducks, and cookies!
GHS Camerata Chamber Orchestra Auditions
Eligible GHS Orchestra students may audition for placement in the Camerata Chamber Orchestra.
Fall Beginners Sign-Up Night
This night is for GIS 5th Grade Students wishing to join 5th Grade Orchestra that did not start in Summer Orchestra Program. The brief informational meeting starts at 6:30 with instrument selection and sizing taking place immediately afterward. Sizing will take place in the order of arrival so you are encouraged to arrive early! Doors open at 6:00 PM. Come join our orchestra family, learn and instrument, and have a lot of fun!
GHS Red Wire Jazz Strings: First Rehearsal
This is the first rehearsal of the year for our GHS Red Wire Jazz Strings. This will be a special season for our GHS Jazz Strings as we prepare for our performance at the IMEA State Convention in Fort Wayne on January 16th featuring Sara Caswell!
The Red Wire Jazz Strings are open to any student enrolled in the Goshen Orchestras that can regularly attend the before school rehearsals. (Each Wednesday and some Thursdays)
GHS Orchestra Uniform Fittings
All 9th Grade/new GHS students (and any student that no longer fits their issued orchestra uniform) need to attend this brief orchestra uniform fitting after school on Monday August 17. Parent volunteers needed to make this event quick and successful for all students. We will work with athletic practices/games to make attendance possible for all students.
Goshen Summer Orchestra Showcase
This is the showcase of our Summer Orchestra Ensembles starting with the Summer Beginners, then Summer 6th, GJH, and GHS Ensembles. There will be a short meeting at the end of the concert for the families of our 5th grade students to explain how orchestra will work during the school year and what the start date will be for our Summer Beginners. Free Admission for this concert!
Beginning orchestra students have a rehearsal on stage from 4:45 PM to 5:45 PM this night and will stay on stage until the start of the evening performance.
